System wide device name change

Now when you change the device name in the program you will see the same name in the Device Manager, the Windows drive properties and in all other programs that displays devices. A useful feature when you need to use the device in other programs.

Preventive flushing of disk buffers

When forcibly stops the device the program now flushes the disk buffers (for storage devices) before the operation. This maximizes the data safety of your drives.

Improved forced stop

The previous versions couldn’t forcibly stop devices consist from a drive and a virtual CD. Usually this virtual CD contains some software that allows to unlock the encrypted content of the drive. That software in turn prevents the whole drive to be safely removed. The new version allows to forcibly stop even such drives.

Bug fix

  • The device menu wasn’t displayed in some multimonitor configurations
  • The device menu button (three dots) was overlapped by the Browse button when the “Display device name” option was disabled
  • In some cases technical error displayed on device stopping
How to update from the previous version?
Just download and install the required installer over the previous version. You do not need to uninstall the previous version. If your upgrade subscription is over feel free to extend it.

Note, this update will be also free for owners of the license keys expired after June 23rd, 2020 – the date of the previous release 2.3

I really liked this program! I can’t do without it!!!
I have an idea: please add a portable version!!!

      Hello,
Thanks for the nice words! But what purpose of the suggested portable version? How you are going to use it?

      • avatar t23111 says:

I believe that the settings will be saved in the installation folder “Date” (C:\Zentimo_portable\Date), and not in the registry.
This will save you from reinstalling the program after reinstalling the Windows system.

A question about the “System wide device name change”: Will this work across all users of a computer? For example if I (as admin) use Zentimo to change the name of a USB device, will that new name show up in the Device Manager for ANY USER that logs on to that machine? Or will it only affect the Device Manager name for the user (me) who changed the name with Zentimo?

Also, is there a way to restrict Zentimo so that only certain users can access it (either limit to Admin level, password protect, etc.)? I have Zentimo on my personal computer for years, but I’m now thinking about buying it for a multi-user machine at work, but I don’t want other users to change the settings I made (I’m the primary admin for the system).

Also, your website has three different prices listed for a single commercial license (in USD):

    $29.90 https://zentimo.com/order.htm?commercial

$19.90 https://sites.fastspring.com/crystalrich/product/usbsr_commercial/pricing (from “Click this link to show volume discounts.”)

$49.90 https://store.payproglobal.com/checkout?products%5B1%5D%5Bid%5D=33159&coupon-code-to-add=&referrer= (from “Buy now!” link)

If I have a choice I’ll take the $19.90 price!

Finally, do you have a discounted price for educational institutions (if so, what is it)?

    Thanks!

      Hi Omitnez,
I’m sorry for so long response.

      > A question about the “System wide device name change”: Will this work across all users of a computer?
It’s system wide and is same for all users, but I’m not sure that a standard user can launch Device Manager AFAIK it requires administrative privileges.

      >Also, is there a way to restrict Zentimo so that only certain users can access it (either limit to Admin level, password protect, etc.)?
At the moment it’s not possible, but I will add it to the feature requests to consider for the following versions.

      >Also, your website has three different prices listed for a single commercial license (in USD):
Yes, there was some mess in the pricing options. Thanks for noting this! I’ve fixed them now. The correct price for Zentimo is $29.90 USD. And yes, we can provide an educational discount. Can you write us to support@crystalrich.com specifying how many licenses you need?

  6. avatar Omitnez says:

Ahh, I just noticed that the $19.90 price is for USB Safely Remove, not Zentimo (even though it’s a link on the Zentimo page). You may want fix that.

    • avatar Igor Tkachenko says:

      Omitnez,
Thanks for the note! I’ve fixed it.

      • avatar Omitnez says:

        Igor,

        It’s not yet fixed.

On the Commercial License page for Zentimo, there is a box that appears when you click “Know more…” (for the individual licenses, not the site license). Within that box is a link within the sentence that reads “Click this link to show volume discounts.” That link still sends me to a page with USB Safely Remove pricing (at $19.90 for quantity 1), not for Zentimo.

I would post URLs as I did before, but that seems to cause the comment to be withheld until you approve it (I understand why). Hopefully you can find the links mentioned above simply by my description.

I have used the Zentimo program almost since it came out more than a decade ago. I have never liked the klutzy way of the original OS. Thanks for this program. I have recommended it to all my friends.

    Omitnez,
Thanks for the note! I’ve fixed it now.

    3 requests, thank you~
Whether the language can be regarded as a separate file, open way.
Can you add one to the portable version: add it to the right-click menu.
Whether the window can be automatically closed after unlocking or deleting.
