Zentimo 1.1 beta4

Nov 12th, 2010

Hello, friends!

We are pleased to present the new beta version of Zentimo. The most important thing we’ve done in this version is an ability to power off devices after stopping in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

A bit more story on this feature. When you safely remove the device in Windows XP it powers the device off – in case off a flash drive its led was switched off and in case of a portable hard drive it was spun down. But Microsoft changed this behavior in Vista and it still exists in Win 7: after you stop the device on these OSes the hard drive continue spinning and flash drive continue lighting. All modern hard drives park theirs heads automatically when you unplug them so in theory this behavior shouldn’t lead to data looses or drive damages. But in practice the hard drive usually sound strangely when you unplug them on run and this makes a hard drive owner being a bit nervous when he hears that.

In order to enable this feature you need to set  “Power off the device after device stopping” option in the Quick Settings Wizard just after installing the program:

Or you also can change this option in the Program Options later:

After the option being changed you need to reboot the system in order for changes to take effect.

Bug fix:

The tray context menu didn’t hide automatically when it loses the focus.

Interface improvements:

Displaying the number of devices in the tray icon was improved. The number was made more clear and moved to the left side of the icon so that it will not interfere with the orange arrow and our icon stays consistent (this number is displayed only when you enable the correspondent option).

Language updates:

We’ve updated following languages: German, Italian, French, Bosnian, Czech, Hebrew, Latvian, Polish, Romanian, Dutch, Serbian, Turkish, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Lithuanian. Many thanks to our translators for their help!

I think Zentimo has a problem after the computer resumes from hibernation phase. I notice you two things:
    1) sometimes: the computer crashes with BSOD window when   i safely remove the wireless device;
    2) always: only the chrome extensions crashes and the computer becomes unstable with limited system resources.
I repeat these problems occur only after resumes from hibernation phase. Whether caused by Zentimo I have no doubt, because stopping the zentimo service and terminating the software does not happen.
    S.O. =  Win Xp Sp3
Sec. Software = Comodo Firewall – Antivir – Shadow defender.

Hi Fabio, Thanks for your feedback!

Can you send us the report from the program so that we have more details on your OS. In order to send it right click to the icon and from the menu choose “Help -> Report a bug”. In the opened dialog just copy what you wrote above.

And one additional question: am I understand right that when you uninstall Zentimo or just if you use a native safely remove hardware option you do not  get a BSOD on stopping the devices?

      • avatar Fabio says:

Hi Igor, you can find the zentimo report in rapidshare link that i have attached in this feedback.
For your additional question  you understand right, when i use a native safely remove hardware option i do not  get a BSOD on stopping my usb wireless device  (TP-LINK WN722).
Is a related problem after pc resume from hibernation state.

Fabio, thanks for the report! We will try to investigate this problem and fix it asap.

Thank to you, for your attention !
I think understood what is the problem. It’s probably a conflict between  MyUsbonly  5.9 and Zentimo.
For the future, it would be nice provide Zentimo with MyUsbOnly security functions. It would be a perfect product!
            Greetings, Fabio.

Hi, I don’t try the Beta for now. But I have installed the latest version from your internetsite and there are two things to do better:

    1.  Information about the Software in configuration window (e.g. Version, Internetsite, Update-Check..)

    2. The tray icon looks like a ‘Z’ in a round point – the old icon looks much better and has a better contex to the original remove icon.

    Regards

    Stoneman

Suggestion for future version: Can you build in a function “Reminds Users in 3 (5, 15, …) minutes (hours) to unplug USB thumb drive after use” – Often i forgot this on my own or on friends pc.

One thing I would love to see is an option to disable the “are you sure” dialogue box when I hit the button to unmount all visable devices.

downloaded and installed. The program will not run.  restart computer still no go re download program still will not run.

    • avatar anton says:

      Hi Lloyd,

      Thank you for your feedback!

It seems the problem with the system hardware configuration or conflicts with another software. We need your system details to try to investigate the problem. You can write us to support.

would be possible to add the option to hide the systray when no device is connected?
    thany you.

    • avatar anton says:

      Hello,

      Thank you for your inquiry.

We decided to exclude that option from Zentimo, because it hasn’t the main window and if the program is launched and no devices is connected you will not able to use the program, even to close it. However we will try to resolve that problem and add the option for future versions.
